Following a 4-1 win against Gabon, Nigeria has now advanced to the final of African play-offs for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The recent win on Thursday evening is attributed to the winning goals secured by Victor Osimhen (102’ and 110 ET), Chidera Ejuke (97 ET) and Akor Adams (78 ET) during the match.

This means Nigeria will face either Cameroon or DR Congo in Africa’s play-off final on Sunday, October 16, 2025.
The winners of the upcoming match will then progress to a six-team intercontinental qualifier in March, where two final qualifiers will be determined for next year’s World Cup.
